Greek Orthodox Church School

PROGRAM
The Goal of the Greek Orthodox Christian School is to provide a friendly, child-oriented, hands on developmentally appropriate environment for each child who attends. Therefore, your child's daily routine will include the following activities:

Free Play
To develop the ability to interact with peers.
To develop problem solving skills.
To foster the imagination.
To develop both small and large motor skills.

Circle Time
The opportunity for all children to come together as a group for conversation building skills, finger plays, flannel board stories, topics of interest relating to the curriculum, poems, reading and the learned skill of listening to others.

Art
To give the opportunity to experiment and use various art mediums such as crayons, colored pencils, chalk, watercolors, easel paint, play dough, glue, paste, tape, tissue paper, construction paper, finger paint, scissors, etc.
To develop small motor skills, encourage the artistic imagination and to work in harmony with others through sharing materials and inspiration. Our emphasis will always be on the process rather than the end product!

Snack Time
A time to help with the snack, use good manners, speak nicely to others, reflect by giving thanks and assist in the clean-up of the tables. The children gain self-confidence and the ability to contribute positively in a group.

Outdoor Play
The opportunity to utilize large muscle groups, cultivate social skills, cooperate with others and develop the imagination.

Music
To be held once a week for the three and four year old classes by the music teacher and daily by all teachers in the classroom. Records, tapes, songs, dances, rhythm instruments and listening exercises are all used to develop an appreciation for music and participation in a group activity.
