Upon the large, central (Royal) doors of the iconostasis is the
icon bearing the title "Christ, the Great High Priest".
Christ is shown with Royal Priestly attire, chalice in hand.
It is through this door that the priest(s) come, as Christ's representatives,
when they read the gospel lesson and when they share the Eucharist with
the faithful. The Altar stands directly behind the Royal Door.
The small icons at the bottom of the Royal Door are representations
of St. Peter and St. Paul.
