The 11 disciples are depicted after the resurection of Christ
and before the addition of Matthias, replacing Judas. (Acts 1;26) " And
they cast thier lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered
with the 11 Appostles." The sword represents the words of Christ in
Matthew 10:34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth.
I did not come to bring peace, but a sword"
