In the tradition of the iconostasis, the second icon to the left
( that is north) of the Royal Door is that of the dedication of the particular
local chuch. In this case it is the Annunciation. The Annunciation
of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary of her conception by the Holy
Spirit is recorded in Luke 1,26-28. The Feast of the Annunciation
is celebrated on March 25, this being nine months prior to December 25,
the Nativity.
